Cabrini earns top spot in Atlantic East Conference preseason coaches poll

Nick Weisheipl has done an outstanding job of building up the Cabrini baseball program, so it's fitting that his Cavaliers club enters the 2022 campaign as favorites to win the Atlantic East Conference title. 

The Cavs ranked as the top club in the Atlantic East Conference coaches preseason poll released earlier this week. 

Cabrini finished 16-11 overall last year before being bounced by local rival Immaculata in the Atlantic East Conference tournament. 

The club returns some of the best offensive players in the region, including senior Mack McKisson and grad student Steven Priest. 

McKisson was Atlantic East Conference Co-Player of the Year last season and is carrying a career .405 average over 117 games. He drove in 37 runs last year and posted a .740 slugging percentage. 

Priest hit .418 last year and showcased some power with six dingers and 42 RBI's. 

The Cavs open the season with a doubleheader on Saturday playing host to Messiah.
