Nate Thomas picked up right where he left off last season, hitting a homer while driving in five runs to lead Saint Joseph's past Quinnipiac on Saturday at Smithson Field, 13-3.

The Hawks carried a 3-1 advantage before putting up a five-spot in the sixth inning highlighted by a Thomas grand slam.

The offense remained hot in the seventh, scoring another five runs. Thomas and Tim Cavanaugh lead the Hawks with two hits each. Luca Trigiani chipped in with a hit and a pair of RBI's.

Mike Falco was outstanding out of the bullpen, picking up nine strikeouts over four shutout innings to record the win. Ian McCole started for the Hawks and pitched well, tossing four frames while surrendering one run.

The two clubs will resume their three-game set on Saturday at Smithson Field at 1 p.m.
