Widener beat No. 1 Salisbury

Widener knocked off the top-ranked team in the nation on Saturday, beating Salisbury 4-1. 

Salisbury opened the scoring in the fifth, but the Pride answered back in the ninth with four runs, with freshman Jason Morgan delivering a pinch-hit RBI-triple to even the contest before Anthony Boccio smacked a two-run single to left to break the tie. 

Kyle Brex and Tommy McParland had two hits each for the Pride in the victory. 

First-year starting pitcher Aidan O'Brien looked fantastic for Widener, hurling six innings while yielding only five. Joey Norton recorded the win, tossing 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief. 

The Pride battled the No. 2 team in the nation earlier in the day in SUNY-Cortland, falling 17-10. 

Brex led the Pride at the plate, going 5-for-6 with a homer, three RBI's, and four runs scored. 

In other D3 action 
Penn State Abington collected 23 hits in a 26-15 win over Guilford. Ryan McCarty hit a pair of homers and finished with four hits. Louis Rossner also collected five RBI's while Anthony Bencardino and Matt Crisci homered in the win. All nine Penn State Abington starters had at least one hit, with four finishing with multiple hits. 

Swarthmore scored in seven of nine innings en route to a 14-5 win over Montclair St. George Briggs led the offense with three RBI's on two hits, while Luke Mutz picked up a pair of RBI's went 4-for-5. 

Arcadia split a doubleheader, falling to Methodist 14-8 in Game 1 before knocking off Messiah 10-1 in the nightcap. Hunter Sibley recorded the win for the Knights, surrendering one unearned run over five innings while collecting seven strikeouts.
