Penn State Abington extended its season-long winning streak to nine games with a 15-9 victory over Immaculata on Wednesday at Averthorpe Park.
The Macs jumped ahead with a 7-1 lead in the third, but the Nittany Lions answered with a seven-spot in the home portion of the frame highlighted by a Sean Doherty two-run double. The two teams traded runs again until Penn State took the lead in the sixth and never looked back.
Doherty finished 3-for-6 with three RBIs, while Ryan McCarty hit his NCAA-leading 28th homer while finishing 2-for-3. He also tossed three scoreless innings to record his third save of the season.
The victory improved Penn State Abington to 27-9 on the year, while Immaculata dropped to 21-9.
The Nittany Lions are back in action Thursday with another non-conference contest against Delaware Valley.
The Macs will host Neumann on Friday to open a three-game Atlantic East series. The club currently holds a two-game lead over Cabrini for the top spot in the conference.
