West Chester swept a doubleheader from Clarion by the scores of 4-3 and 6-4 Saturday afternoon at the Division II Baseball Challenge in Dinwiddie, Va.
J.R. Gifford and Zack Miles hit back-to-back home runs in the sixth inning in the first game, giving the Rams a lead they would hold.
Joe Sperone started the first game and went five scoreless innings. He scattered five hits and walked one while striking out six. Dylan Howanitz picked up the win in relief, while Julian Costa earned the save.
Evan Profy led off the second game with a homer, while Sean Slowinski hit a two-run double in the third to break a 2-2 tie to give the Rams a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Andrew Cantwell recorded the win, tossing four innings while surrendering two runs (one earned).
The Rams (2-0) will play a doubleheader against Tiffin on Sunday.
