Left-hander Andrew Cantwell allowed just one run on seven hits over 6 1/3 innings to lead No. 8 West Chester to a 5-1 victory over D'Youville Friday evening at Sue Morris Complex in Glenville, WV.
JR Gifford paced the Rams at the plate, finishing with two hits and a pair of RBIs. Joe Kaleck chipped in with two hits of his own while swiping a bag.
Relievers Joe Messina and Evan Snyder combined to toss 2 2/3 hitless innings in relief.
The Golden Rams will be back in action Saturday afternoon with a single game against Mercyhurst.

Jake Schweiker surrendered five runs over six frames in the loss. Andrew Sawarynski led the Griffins with a homer and three RBIs.

Ryan Coyle and Josh Lopez finished with two RBIs each for the Rams. Samuel Bass whiffed eight over five solid innings while surrendering one run. The Rams bullpen combined to allow eight runs over the final four innings in the loss.
