Ryan Cesarini drove in the winning run Sunday for Saint Joseph's with a fielder's choice in the 10th inning, giving the Hawks a 5-4 win over Duke to close out their weekend set at Durham Bulls Athletic Park.
Carter Jagiela hit a one-out infield single in the 10th to set the table, then advanced to second base on a wild pitch. Conlan Wall then delivered a single to right field before Cesarini hit a grounder to shortstop and the Blue Devils failed to turn a double play, allowing Jagiela to score.
Jagiela finished with two hits and an RBI in the win. Brett Callahan also finished with two hits and drove in a pair. Wall collected two hits and walked three times while Max Hitman delivered a double and a triple in the winning effort.
David Owsik was outstanding on the bump for the Hawks, tossing five hitless frames. He whiffed three and walked one.
Luke Gabrysh recorded the win, surrendering one run over three innings of relief.
Cole Stetzar claimed the save, tossing a scoreless 10th inning.
In total, the Hawks limited Duke to just four hits on the afternoon.
Saint Joseph's returns to the diamond next Tuesday on the road at Rutgers.
