West Chester scored four runs in the first inning, and starting pitcher Joe Sperone tossed six solid innings, leading the Golden Rams to a 5-3 win over Mercyhurst on Saturday. 

The Golden Rams scored four runs in the opening frame with a J.R. Gifford two-run double being the highlight. Joe Kaleck finished the day with two hits. 

Julian Costa hurled three scoreless innings in relief, allowing one hit while sitting down a pair. 

West Chester will face Pitt Johnstown on Sunday. 

In other local D-II action 
New Haven 8, Chestnut Hill 5 
Justin Geiger finished 3-for-4, while Ahmaad Goldson collected two hits, including a two-run homer, in the loss. Rich Bonino tossed three scoreless innings in relief for the Griffins. The club will face Queens College on Sunday.
