Senior hurler Anthony Pillari encountered trouble in the ninth inning on Friday at Cooper Park, allowing No. 19 Millersville to plate two runs to secure a walk-off victory over Jefferson, 6-5.
Pillari entered the final frame with the Rams holding a one-run lead. He whiffed the first batter he faced but subsequently surrendered a single and a triple, allowing Millersville to even the contest. He then uncorked a wild pitch later in the frame, allowing the runner from third to score to end the contest.
The Rams had a three-run lead heading into the home portion of the seventh inning before allowing four unanswered runs.
Josh Lopez collected two hits in the loss, while Ryan Coyle chipped in with two hits of his own, including a solo homerun.
Samuel Bass scattered three hits over five innings for Jefferson. He surrendered two runs (one earned) while collecting four strikeouts on 89 pitches.
Jimmy Losh finished 4-for-5 for Millersville and scored two runs, including the tying run in the ninth. Bren Taylor scored the winning run while also driving in a pair.
Jefferson returns to action on Thursday at the Division II College Classic in Wilson, N.C.
