Philly College Baseball Player of the Week
PHILADELPHIA -- Jarrett Pokrovsky’s bat and Titus Shay’s arm drove a week that reflected the depth of impact across Philadelphia’s Division I programs.

The two were recognized Monday as the Philadelphia Baseball Review Division I Player and Pitcher of the Week, presented by Wheelhouse Cards, after delivering performances that helped shape key wins for Penn and La Salle.

Pokrovsky set the tone at the plate for Penn, putting together a four-game stretch that turned into one of the most productive runs of his season. The Quakers’ infielder went 7-for-14 (.500) across games against Lehigh and Dartmouth, scoring four runs and driving in four more. He collected hits in all four games and delivered three multi-hit performances, including a pair during Penn’s doubleheader sweep of Dartmouth.

His extra-base production stood out as well. Pokrovsky added two doubles and a home run during the stretch, accounting for a significant portion of his season total while helping Penn generate consistent offense during a four-game winning run. It was a steady, controlled week at the plate — one where he consistently put the ball in play and capitalized on opportunities.

While Pokrovsky was leading Penn’s lineup, Shay was locking down games at the back end for La Salle.

The redshirt junior right-hander continued what has been a near-flawless start to the season, highlighted by his role in closing out a combined no-hitter against Davidson on Sunday. Shay handled the final three innings, retiring all nine batters he faced and striking out six to secure the save and complete the milestone effort.

For the weekend, Shay appeared twice against Davidson and was perfect across four innings, striking out eight of the 12 batters he faced. His ability to miss bats and control innings late has become a defining piece of La Salle’s bullpen.

Through seven appearances this season, Shay has yet to allow a hit across 10 2/3 innings. He owns a 0.84 ERA with 18 strikeouts and just three walks, while allowing only three total baserunners. He has also recorded three saves, establishing himself as a reliable option in late-game situations.

Together, Pokrovsky and Shay provided impact in different ways — one setting the pace offensively, the other closing the door on the mound — in a week that underscored the strength of the Philadelphia Division I college baseball scene.
