Holy Family Baseball - Philadelphia Baseball Review
For most of Sunday afternoon, Holy Family found itself chasing.

By the end, the Tigers were celebrating.

Holy Family erased a late deficit with a three-run eighth inning to defeat Georgian Court, 9-7, completing a weekend sweep and continuing its strong run in CACC play.

Trailing 7-6 entering the bottom of the eighth, the Tigers delivered their most important sequence of the weekend — one built on patience, timely hitting, and execution.

Pinch-hitter Alex Camilo sparked the rally with a leadoff walk. After an out, Jalen David — who had been a constant presence throughout the afternoon — lined a single to set the stage. That brought Andres Rivera to the plate, and he delivered the decisive blow, driving a two-run triple down the right-field line to give Holy Family the lead.

Moments later, Perry Chetney added an insurance run with an RBI single, pushing the advantage to 9-7 and handing the ball to the bullpen.

Trevor Morris took care of the rest.

The right-hander retired the side in order in the ninth inning to earn his second save of the season, sealing the victory and the sweep.

The win went to Zach Lane, who provided steady relief over the final two innings, allowing just one earned run while bridging the gap between starter Ryan McLaughlin and the closer. McLaughlin worked the first six innings, keeping Holy Family within striking distance despite multiple pushes from Georgian Court.

The back-and-forth nature of the game defined much of the afternoon.

Georgian Court jumped ahead early, building a 3-0 lead before Holy Family responded in the fifth inning with its first offensive surge. The Tigers sent 10 batters to the plate and scored five runs, highlighted by two-run singles from Torin McKenzie and Logan Mote to flip the game in their favor.

But the lead didn’t hold.

Georgian Court answered with two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings, reclaiming a 7-6 advantage and forcing Holy Family into a late-game response.

That response came — emphatically — in the eighth.

Offensively, the Tigers produced throughout the lineup, finishing with 12 hits. David led the way with a standout performance, going 4-for-5 with two runs and an RBI, marking his third four-hit game in just eight contests.

Rivera reached base multiple times and drove in two runs, while Chetney added two hits, an RBI, and a walk in a balanced offensive effort.

Beyond the numbers, it was the timing that mattered most.

Holy Family scored five runs in the fifth to get back into the game, but it was the three-run eighth that ultimately defined it — a sequence that turned a potential loss into a sweep.

With the win, the Tigers improved to 11-13 overall and 6-3 in conference play, continuing to build momentum as the season progresses.

They will look to carry that into Wednesday, when they host Wilmington in a doubleheader.
