Josh Hood named Philly Freshman of the Year
The Philadelphia Baseball Review announced on Tuesday that Penn shortstop Josh Hood is the publication's NCAA Division I Freshman of the Year.

The unanimous Ivy League Rookie of the Year put up some outstanding numbers, finishing the year with 42 RBIs to go along with a .331 batting average. He led the Quakers with eight homers and finished with 17 multi-hit games.

The Richland, N.J. native earned USA Baseball’s Golden Spikes Performance of the Week award after going 4-for-5 with two doubles, two home runs, five RBI, and three runs scored in Penn’s 16-12 win over Harvard on March 23.

Hood came to Penn as a First-Team All-South Jersey honoree out of St. Augustine Prep.

The Philadelphia Baseball Review will unveil its entire All-Philadelphia Area D-I Team on Thursday.
