Swarthmore held off a late Eastern rally to secure an 11-10 victory in its home opener on Tuesday afternoon at Clothier Field. The game was called after seven innings due to darkness.
The Garnet jumped out to an early 5-0 lead and stretched their advantage to 11-3 before the Eagles clawed back with seven runs over their final three at-bats. Despite the surge, Steven Jungers closed the door in the seventh to earn his first save of the season.
Aidan Sullivan led the way offensively for Swarthmore, going 3-for-4 with a double, a walk, an RBI, and two runs scored. Easton Tolson had an impressive debut at Clothier Field, finishing 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Matthew Silvestre reached base three times, driving in two and scoring twice, while Nathaniel Kittredge added a triple, two walks, two RBIs, and two runs.
For Eastern, sophomore Matthew Gonglik delivered a perfect 3-for-3 performance at the plate, including a pair of doubles and an RBI. The Eagles finished with 12 hits, with junior left fielder Thomas Kozlusky going 3-for-4. Justin DiCesare drove in three runs on a hit and a sac fly, while Trent MacDougall, Luke Meehan, JJ Matos, and Leyton Bamesberger each added a hit.

Penn State Brandywine wrapped up its season-opening five-game homestand with a 10-3 victory over Delaware Valley on Tuesday afternoon.
Brandywine racked up a season-high 14 hits, led by David Kursman, who went 3-for-4 with three runs scored. Ryan Brown and Mike DeGirolamo each contributed two hits and two runs, while Owen Lawton drove in a team-high four runs with a pair of hits.
