Jason Kelly starred in the nightcap, carrying a no-hitter into the fifth before settling for a dominant one-hit complete game. He struck out eight, walked three, and allowed just one unearned run. Kelly also delivered the go-ahead blow, a two-run double in the fifth that put Chestnut Hill ahead for good. Michael Pascoe added three hits, including a triple, while Justin Geiger and Kenyon Motley each had two hits.
New Haven took an early lead with an unearned run in the first, but Pascoe tripled and scored on a Dylan Broderick single to tie the game in the second. Kelly’s clutch double in the fifth gave the Griffins a 3-1 lead, and they tacked on an insurance run in the sixth when Michael Benedetto III singled home Daniel Ciotti. Kelly retired the final nine batters he faced to secure the victory.
The opener saw New Haven break the game open with a five-run sixth inning, fending off a late Chestnut Hill rally for an 8-5 win. Aiden Myers and Motley homered, while Myers, Kelly, and Motley each recorded two hits. Kelly drove in the Griffins’ first run in the first inning, but New Haven responded with two early runs before erupting in the sixth to take control.
Myers belted a three-run homer in the seventh to cut the deficit to 7-4, and Motley added a solo shot in the eighth, but the Griffins couldn’t complete the comeback. Jake Schweiker took the loss, allowing seven runs over 5.1 innings.
