Each week throughout the college baseball season, the Philadelphia Baseball Review recognizes standout performances from across all divisions with our Philadelphia Baseball Review College Player and Pitcher of the Week honors. This spotlight celebrates the top hitters and pitchers who delivered exceptional performances, showcasing the depth of talent across the region’s collegiate programs.
Chestnut Hill’s Jason Kelly delivered a dominant performance on the mound over the weekend, leading his squad to a victory over No. 22 Molloy. For his efforts, he has been named the Philadelphia Baseball Review D-II Pitcher of the Week.
Kelly took a no-hitter into the fifth inning before surrendering a double, but he remained in control, tossing a complete-game one-hitter. He struck out eight, walked three, and allowed just one unearned run. His contributions weren’t limited to the mound—he also came through at the plate on Saturday, delivering a two-run double to drive in the go-ahead runs.
On the offensive side, West Chester’s Casey Vaughn earned D-II Offensive Player of the Week honors after an impressive showing in the Golden Rams’ four-game series against the University of Charleston.
Vaughn went 5-for-12 with a double, triple, two RBIs, six runs scored, and a stolen base. He also showcased his discipline at the plate, drawing two walks and getting hit by a pitch twice. His contributions helped West Chester win three of four to open the season.
