West Chester baseball - Philadelphia Baseball Review
PHILADELPHIA — This is where the standings start to carry weight.

Shepherd holds a narrow edge atop the PSAC Eastern Division at 11-6, with West Chester right behind at 10-6. And it doesn’t stop there.

East Stroudsburg and Shippensburg are also sitting at 10-6, creating a four-team race that figures to shift quickly over the next two weeks.

For West Chester, this weekend is about positioning as much as it is momentum. A strong showing could go a long way in solidifying a higher seed in the PSAC Tournament, which opens May 6.

The Golden Rams enter the weekend coming off an 11-5 comeback win over Goldey-Beacom, erasing a four-run deficit with 11 unanswered runs — a snapshot of an offense that has shown the ability to change games in a hurry.

They’ve been especially dangerous at home, where they are 11-3 this season and hitting .340 as a team. When West Chester gets going early, the results follow — 17-2 when scoring first and a perfect 17-0 when plating seven or more runs.

The lineup has been driven by consistent production across the board, with multiple hitters carrying averages north of .330 and providing both power and run production.

On the mound, the Golden Rams have leaned on a steady rotation, anchored by a frontline arm with a sub-2.50 ERA and supported by experienced depth that has allowed them to stay competitive in tight games.

Over in the CACC, the playoff picture is tightening.

Jefferson has righted the ship after a slow start, entering the weekend having won six of its last seven to move to 13-6 in conference play — good for third place.

They open a critical three-game set Saturday against Holy Family.

With only the top four teams advancing to the conference tournament, the stakes are clear. Holy Family sits at 13-11, two games behind the final playoff spot, while Jefferson has an opportunity to strengthen its position — and potentially lock up a postseason berth with a sweep and some help.

Chestnut Hill is also in the mix at 13-11, sitting just outside the top four. The Griffins face a major test this weekend against conference leader Goldey-Beacom.

It’s the kind of weekend where the standings won’t just change — they’ll start to define who gets a chance to keep playing.
