Holy Family - Philadelphia Baseball Review
PHILADELPHIA -- Holy Family didn’t just win on Saturday — it overwhelmed.

Behind a relentless offensive attack and steady pitching, Holy Family rolled past Chestnut Hill in a doubleheader sweep, 16-5 and 9-4, completing a dominant day at the plate and on the mound.

The tone was set early and carried throughout, with Holy Family piling up 25 runs across the two games, turning nearly every inning into a pressure situation for the Griffins.

Nick Lombardo was at the center of it all.

The infielder reached base at least three times in both games and finished the day 5-for-8 with six RBIs, four runs scored, a home run, two doubles, a walk, and a hit-by-pitch. Whether setting the table or driving in runs, Lombardo consistently found a way to impact the game.

He wasn’t alone.

Jephson Hadson-Taylor powered the offense in the opener, driving in five runs while scoring three times. He delivered three extra-base hits — a home run and two doubles — and added a walk in a complete performance that helped break the game open early.

Perry Chetney added to the surge with a three-hit effort, homering and doubling while driving in three runs. Jalen David also left the yard, finishing with two RBIs and multiple hits across the doubleheader.

On the mound, Holy Family got exactly what it needed.

Jorden Sesar continued his steady run, delivering his fifth consecutive quality start. He worked six innings, allowing three earned runs on five hits while striking out seven and walking two. Grant Carlton followed with two scoreless innings in relief to close out the opener.

In the nightcap, Bryan Burtoft took control.

The right-hander tossed a complete game, limiting Chestnut Hill to six hits over seven innings to secure his second complete game victory of the season.

Andres Rivera added the finishing touches offensively in game two, homering and driving in three runs as Holy Family completed the sweep.

The result carries added weight in the CACC standings. With the top eight teams advancing to the conference tournament, both Holy Family and Chestnut Hill now sit at 12-10 in league play, with the Tigers currently in seventh place and the Griffins just ahead in sixth in a tightly contested race.

With the offense clicking throughout the lineup and the pitching staff delivering consistent outings, Holy Family controlled the day from start to finish — a complete performance in every sense.

The two teams will wrap up the three-game series Sunday with a noon first pitch.
