Jefferson moves on
Jefferson advanced to the next round of the CACC Tournament on Monday, sweeping a doubleheader from host Goldey-Beacom to win a best-of-three series at Doyle Field in Hockessin, DE.

Jem Sisco was masterful for Jefferson in Game 1, tossing 6 1/3 innings while surrendering one run on one hit. He and reliever Anthony Pillari combined for 18 strikeouts on the day in a 6-1 victory.

Vince Barone delivered a three-run homer in the eighth to give the Rams some insurance.

Josh Lopez and Alex Gonzalez finished with two hits each.

The Rams took more of an offensive route to their victory in Game 2, scoring four runs in the opening frame en route to a 10-7 win.

Arturo Figueroa delivered a two-run homer in the first for the Rams while Efrain Santiago and Justin Espinal drove in a run each later in the inning.

Goldey-Beacom answered with three unearned runs in the second, but Jefferson responded with six runs over the next three innings to take a commanding 10-3 advantage.

Ryan Sawyer finished with two hits and four RBIs while Santiago, Espinal, and Figueroa finished with two hits each.

The Rams now visit Pace on Thursday as the CACC Tournament enters the double-elimination phase. Jefferson split a doubleheader with Pace back in early April, dropping the first contest 11-4 before winning the nightcap 12-2.

The winner of Thursday's contest will face the winner of Wilmington and Felician on Friday. The loser will play again in an elimination game on Thursday evening.

Jefferson last reached the NCAA Tournament in 1990.
