West Chester hosts pod
West Chester is a No. 1 seed and will host a three-team pod later this week in the NCAA Division II baseball tournament.

The No. 16 Golden Rams (29-11) will welcome Slippery Rock (33-16) and Seton Hill (31-17-1) to Serpico Stadium on Thursday. The two visitors will play in Game 1 before West Chester faces the loser later Thursday afternoon.

The NCAA Tournament is comprised of 56 teams, 22 automatic berths, and 34 at-large selections, spanning eight regions. The championship preliminary round competition provides for 16 regional sites that consist of either three-team or four-team, double-elimination tournaments that will be conducted May 19-22. The winners of those regional-round competitions advance to a super-regional round May 27-28 that consist of two teams competing in a best-of-three series. The eight super-regional champions will advance Division II College World Series June 4-11 in Cary, North Carolina.

Overall, seven teams from the Atlantic Region qualified for the NCAA Tournament.

Millersville and Charleston garnered automatic bids after winning the Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference and Mountain East Conference tournaments, respectively, while West Chester, Gannon, Slippery Rock, Seton Hill, and East Stroudsburg each received at-large berths. West Chester and Millersville were awarded the top seeds in the region and will both serve as regional host sites.

The Golden Rams' inclusion in the NCAA Division II Tournament marks the fifth appearance in the last six postseasons competed and the 17th time overall. West Chester shows a 41-29 (.586) record in the NCAAs. The Golden Rams won the Division II National Championship in both 2012 and 2017. They last qualified for the NCAAs in 2019 when the Rams hosted a first-round pod as the second seed in the Atlantic Region.
