Nola on the mound as the Phillies face the Yankees
Two of baseball's hottest teams will open a two-game set on Tuesday night as the Phillies visit the Bronx for a series with the Yankees. 
 
Right-hander Domingo German (4-5, 4.72) will be the Yankees starter while righty Aaron Nola (6-5, 4.53) will be on the mound for the Phillies 
 
Nola missed his previous start as he was on the COVID-related IL. He struggled before the All-Star break, pitching to a 8.35 ERA over his previous four starts. 
 
The Phillies enter play on Tuesday two games behind the Mets in the NL East. The club took three-of-four from the Marlins over the weekend at Citizens Bank Park. 
 
German has made two career appearances (one start) versus the Phillies, going 0-1 with an 11.81 ERA. 
 
Injury Update 
The Phillies placed starting pitcher Zach Eflin on the 10-day injured list because of right patella tendinitis. He has a 4-7 record with a 4.17 ERA in 18 starts. 
 
Eflin was scheduled to start on Wednesday, but manager Joe Girardi will now turn to the bullpen to start and finish the contest. Matt Moore will start Thursday's series opener with the Braves.
