David Buchanan enters the regular season riding a solid spring effort that included a 1.29 ERA over 21 innings.

"We need him to come through and put together solid starts," said manager Ryne Sandberg near the end of spring training. "He showed us he can do pitch at this level last year, now he just needs to build from there."

The Phillies received a stellar effort Wednesday night from Aaron Harang en route to a 4-2 victory over the Red Sox.

Harang tossed 6 1/3 scoreless innings and notched eight strikeouts while surrendering just two hits. Jeff Francoeur paced the offense with a three-run home run in the sixth inning to break a scoreless tie. He finished the evening with a pair of hits.

BOS Lineup: Betts 8, Pedroia 4, Ortiz 3, Ramirez 7, Sandoval 5, Victorino 9, Hanigan 2, Bogaerts 6, Masterson 1.

Phillies Notes: The Phillies announced Sean O'Sullivan will start on Sunday against the Nationals ... Chad Billingsley is slated to throw 4 innings in tomorrow's rehab start with Lehigh Valley ... Jeff Francoeur is a .310 hitter lifetime against Masterson, clubbing two doubles and driving in three ... Odubel Herrera is still nursing a sore foot so he's out of tonight's lineup but available to come off the bench ... This will be the last meeting between the Red Sox and Phillies until Sept. 4-6, when the clubs meet for a three-game set at Fenway Park.

Weather Forecast: 46-degrees and cloudy, east winds at 8 mph.

Today's Vegas Odds: Phillies +120
