Schwarber - Phillies - Philadelphia Baseball Review
The Phillies accomplished what they came to do at Rogers Centre.

They won the series.

Behind home runs from Bryce Harper, Alec Bohm and Kyle Schwarber, plus another steady start from Jesús Luzardo, Philadelphia rolled to a 7-4 victory over the Blue Jays on Wednesday night in the finale of a three-game series.

But by the end of the night, the focus was less about the three homers and more about the status of Adolis García.

The veteran right fielder exited in the seventh inning after appearing to injure his right shoulder while making consecutive throws to home plate on sacrifice flies. García immediately grabbed at the area following the second throw, prompting a visit from head athletic trainer Paul Buchheit and interim manager Don Mattingly before he was removed from the game.

According to reports, García was diagnosed with a pulled muscle in his right shoulder area and will undergo further evaluation.

That development landed at a particularly difficult time for a club that already learned earlier Wednesday that Johan Rojas would miss the remainder of the season with a torn ulnar collateral ligament.

For most of the night, however, the Phillies controlled the game from the moment Bryce Harper interrupted a celebration for Max Scherzer.

Scherzer became just the 10th pitcher in Major League history to record 3,500 career strikeouts in the first inning. Two batters later, Harper sent a fastball into the seats in left field, turning a milestone moment into an early Phillies lead.

Philadelphia never surrendered it.

Bohm's three-run homer highlighted a four-run third inning, Schwarber launched his major-league-leading 24th home run in the fourth, and Luzardo worked around a season-high four walks to hold Toronto to one run across 5 2/3 innings.

The victory secured a series win for the Phillies and continued a strong road trip.

It also left them waiting for answers about the health of a suddenly important piece of their outfield.
