The Philadelphia Public League is organizing the Coaches vs. Cancer High School Baseball Fest, a philanthropic event scheduled for March 25 during the upcoming 2024 season.
The event aims to raise funds for cancer awareness and support research initiatives.
Eight public league clubs, including Frankford, Tacony, String Theory, Lincoln, Mariana Bracetti, MaST II, Carver E&S, and Franklin Towne, are scheduled to participate in the inaugural tournament. The games will take place at Dick Allen Field and Richie Ashburn Field, part of the Phillies' Urban Youth Academy.
Juan Namnun, head coach of Frankford and a cancer survivor, is chairman of the event.
Beyond the action on the diamond, attendees will have an opportunity to undergo a cancer screening. The fest will also include participation from several local businesses and guests from the Phillies.
Funds raised will support the American Cancer Society. You can donate to the cause here.
Additional details will be released next month.
