Senior Jason Hughes and graduate student Josh Crowding of Immaculata have earned First Team and Third Team All-America honors from D3 Baseball.
Hughes set program records in 2023, pitching 73 innings, striking out 101, and securing nine wins. He was named Atlantic East Conference Pitcher of the Year for the second time.
Crowding, a graduate student, led in hits, doubles, and RBI, earning him Atlantic East Conference Player of the Year.
Hughes and Crowding are expected to lead the Mighty Macs in pursuing a third consecutive Atlantic East Conference Championship and a return to the NCAA Tournament.
Also recognized is Swarthmore starting pitcher Liam Alpern, a junior, who received D3 Third Team All-America honors for his standout 2023 season with a 1.50 ERA and a 4-0 record in 60 innings. He ranked near the top of the conference in strikeouts with 63 Ks on the season. He held opponents to a .159 batting average while limiting baserunners with a team-best 0.92 WHIP. He was also selected to the All-Centennial First-team and awarded Centennial Conference Pitcher of the Year.
The Garnet open the 2024 season on February 23 in Aberdeen, MD with a doubleheader against Montclair State and Mount Aloysius. The Mighty Macs open their schedule on the same day, visiting Rutgers-Camden for a doubleheader.
