PBR - The Phillies have been in discussions with the Arizona Diamondbacks about a possible deal involving Cliff Lee and outfielder Justin Upton, according to reports.
Lee has three-years and $87.5 million remaining on his deal while Upton has three-years and $38.5 million, so the Phillies would have to include a significant amount of money to make a deal happen.
Upton hit .280 last season with 17 home runs and 67 RBIs. The 25-year-old would take a corner outfield spot, leaving the Phillies still with a hole in center field.
Upton is a two-time All Star.
Update (6:19 p.m.): Ruben Amaro Jr. dismissed the Lee for Upton saying the two clubs have not spoken.
