PBR - The Phillies selected outfielder Ender Inciarte from the Arizona Diamondbacks in the major league phase of Thursday's Rule 5 draft.

The 22-year-old Venezuelan hit .307 with two home runs, 47 RBIs, and 46 stolen bases in 127 games in single-A last season. One rival National League scout compared the speedy left-hander to Endy Chavez but with plus-plus defensive skills.

Players selected in the Rule 5 draft must remain on the selecting team's 25-man major league roster for the entire season after the draft. The player can not be optioned or designated to the minors but he may be waived.

Recent Rule 5 selections by the Phillies include Michael Martinez (2010), David Herndon (2009), and Shane Victorino (2004).
