Weston Wilson
Weston Wilson made history on Friday night, becoming the first Phillie to hit for the cycle at Citizens Bank Park since David Bell did it back in June 2004. Wilson's milestone performance fueled a dominant 10-2 victory over the Washington Nationals, kicking off a four-game weekend series in South Philly with authority.

Wilson's moment came in the eighth inning with the Phillies already in full control. He lined a shot to right field that seemed destined for Alex Call's glove, but Call's diving attempt came up short. The ball ricocheted off his glove and rolled towards center, allowing Wilson to coast into second base and complete the cycle. It was the 10th cycle in Phillies history and the first by any player at Citizens Bank Park since Bell's nearly two decades ago. The last Phillie to achieve the feat was J.T. Realmuto in 2023.

Wilson's journey to this moment is noteworthy. He started the season in Triple-A Lehigh Valley and hasn't seen much action since being called up in July. Entering the night, he was batting .273 with two homers and six RBIs over 15 games. But in his last eight starts, Wilson has been red-hot, hitting .414 (12-for-29) since his July 12 recall.

The Phillies wasted no time in backing Wilson's big night. Alec Bohm launched a three-run homer in the first inning, and Nick Castellanos followed with a solo shot, giving Zack Wheeler all the support he needed. Wheeler was sharp, holding the Nationals to three hits and two runs (one earned) over six innings while striking out six. He improved to 12-5 on the season, sporting a 2.78 ERA, 3.43 FIP, and 3.6 WAR across 148 2/3 innings.

With their second consecutive win, the Phillies now sit at 71-50, a half-game ahead of the 71-51 Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in the National League.
