West Chester dominated Shepherd in a doubleheader on Friday, winning both games decisively. They secured a 5-2 victory in the first game and followed up with a commanding 12-3 win in the second.

These wins were significant for West Chester (31-5, 17-5 PSAC East), marking the 14th time in school history and the first since 2018 that they reached 30 wins in a regular season. The team's 31 wins this season are also their highest since 2018.

The doubleheader also saw West Chester tying and breaking a school record for consecutive wins in a season with 21. They equaled the record at 20, previously set by the 2012 National Championship team, in the first game and then set a new record with their victory in the second game.

Standout performances included Sean Szestowicki going 3-for-3 in the first game and Evan Profy's 2-for-4 performance. Pitcher Julian Costa improved to 7-2 for the year with a solid six-inning outing in the first game.

In the second game, Casey Vaughan's 3-for-3 hitting, including a three-run home run, was crucial in securing the win. Other players like Miles, Joe Kaleck, and Boccio also contributed significantly to the team's success. Dylan Howanitz picked up the win in relief in the second game, improving his record to 3-0 for the season.
