Graduate center fielder Chris Rotondo extended his hitting streak to a career-high 15 straight games on Saturday and hit his fourth home run of the season, but the Wildcats' woes at the plate continued in a 12-2 loss at Tulane.
Rotondo scored both of Villanova's runs on the afternoon; crossing the plate in the first after reaching base with a leadoff walk and then scampering home on a two-out single through the right side by junior third baseman Jack O'Reilly. Rotondo then homered in the fourth. He's now hitting .383 with a 1.143 OPS through the first 16 games of the season.
Tyler Arella took the loss for Villanova, surrendering six runs on nine hits.
As a team, the Wildcats are hitting just .222 on the year.
The club concludes its weekend slate with Tulane on Sunday.
