Craig Larsen hit a two-run double in the eighth inning to ultimately lift Penn past Wagner on Saturday at Meiklejohn Stadium, 5-3.
Trailing by a run entering the eighth, Wyatt Henseler worked a leadoff walk while Jackson Appel reached base after being hit by a pitch. Ben Miller then moved Henseler and Appel into scoring position after reaching via an error, setting the table for Larsen to rip a two-run double to leftfield to give the Quakers a 4-3 lead. Miller later scored as an insurance run on another error by the Wagner defense.
The Quakers collected just five hits on the afternoon.
Owen Coady looked great again on the mound for Penn, collecting ten strikeouts over six innings. He did, however, surrender three runs in the contest to snap a personal 15 2/3 scoreless innings streak.
The Quakers (10-5) are riding a five-game winning streak, their longest since winning eight in a row from March 9-20, 2019.
Penn and Wagner will wrap up their three-game set on Sunday.
