The Philly Fightin Quakers didn’t just beat the Rake Collegiate Team on Wednesday evening in Warminster — they surgically shut them down. A 3-0 win. A three-man pitching masterpiece. And a whole lot of strikeouts.
Justus Agosto, Pat Dougherty, and Dylan Ganey weren’t just good. They were “don’t-blink-or-you’ll-miss-it” good. The trio combined for a 12-strikeout, two-hit shutout that didn’t give Rake much of a chance to, well, rake.
The headline act? Agosto. The righty carved through the Rake lineup like he had somewhere to be, striking out 10 of the 13 batters he faced over four electric innings. No walks. One hit. Just dominance.
And when it came time to seal the deal? Dougherty needed just one fly ball — off the bat of Jack Dicesare — to nail down the final out and preserve the combined gem.
Funny part? The Rake arms were nearly as sharp, racking up 14 strikeouts of their own. But the Quakers found just enough daylight in the fourth.
That’s when Ethan Ketterer snapped the deadlock with an RBI single. Sam Batiancila and Joel Bonner added run-scoring knocks of their own to give the Quakers the insurance they’d never need to cash in.
Bonner led the offense with a pair of hits. Philly swiped five bags just to keep the pressure on. And then they handed it back to the arms.
Mummers come back late to tie Bandits
Some games end with a walk-off. Some with a strikeout. And then there are the ones that end the way Wednesday’s Bucks County Ghost–Philly Mummers matchup did: with no winner, no loser, and just enough what-ifs to keep everyone guessing.
Call it unfinished business in Ambler.
After seven innings of lead changes, stolen bases, and triples flying to the gaps, the Bucks County Ghost and Philly Mummers settled for a 4-4 tie. Not a win. Not a loss. Just two squads that refused to blink.
It started fast. The Ghost jumped out with a Ryan Brown triple and a Nick Shiffler groundout to score two quick runs in the first. But by the third, the Mummers bounced back — thanks to a Dylan Pope triple that briefly gave them a 3-2 edge.
Then came the fifth. Jalen Soberal punched a single into left. Nick Tuccillo swiped home. Just like that, Bucks was back on top, 4-3.
But Philly wasn’t done.
Bottom seven. Two outs. Full count. Evan Hawkes delivered — a base knock to center that brought home the tying run and set the stage for a finish that never came.
Pitching? Pretty solid all around. Gianni Serenelli struck out five for Bucks in his four innings of work. Justin Marraccini punched out four for the Mummers and didn’t allow a walk.
At the plate, Brown was the sparkplug for the Ghost, going 2-for-3 and reaching base in every trip. Soberal, Brown, and Shiffler each drove in a run. Pope led the Mummers with two RBIs, while Owen Pinkerton went 2-for-3.
