The Philadelphia Baseball Review continues to recognize the region’s top collegiate baseball talent, and this week’s D-III standouts come from Cairn University. Langhorne native Tyler Warr delivered a torrid stretch at the plate, while Mikey Gutierrez turned in a pair of masterful performances on the mound to earn D-III Pitcher of the Week honors.
Warr’s Bat Stays Hot
A Neshaminy graduate, Warr put together an impressive offensive week, going 10-for-32 (.313) with eight runs scored, four home runs, and 12 RBIs. His consistent production has fueled the Highlanders’ early-season success, as he now boasts a .455 average with five homers and 19 RBIs on the year.
Gutierrez Deals Back-to-Back Gems
On the mound, sophomore right-hander Mikey Gutierrez was nearly unhittable, tossing a pair of complete games while allowing just one earned run over 18 innings. The Florida native walked just two batters and fanned 15, showcasing pinpoint command and durability. He now owns a 0.92 ERA over 19 2/3 innings, despite his deceptive 1-2 record.
The Highlanders (7-4) will look to build on their momentum this week, beginning with a home contest against Muhlenberg on Tuesday, followed by matchups against Franklin & Marshall and Penn State Brandywine.
