Arcadia Baseball
There’s winning a conference opener, and then there’s what Arcadia did on Friday afternoon. Trailing by four runs in the eighth, the Knights erupted for seven runs and then survived a bases-loaded jam in the ninth to knock off No. 15 Misericordia, 10-8, in a dramatic Middle Atlantic Conference Freedom (MAC Freedom) opener.

Misericordia wasted no time getting on the board, plating two in the first. But Arcadia answered right back in the second, thanks to a two-run blast from Thomas Strauch and an RBI double from Gabe Diaz.

The lead didn’t last long. The Cougars tacked on two in the second, one in the fourth, and two more in the fifth to build a 7-3 cushion. But the Knights had one more rally left in them.

Strauch, Ryan Radigan, Diaz, Kevin Wheeler, and Noah Stennett all came through in a seven-run eighth, flipping the script and giving Arcadia a 10-7 advantage.

Misericordia cut the lead to two with a solo shot in the bottom of the eighth, then threatened to steal the game in the ninth by loading the bases with one out. But Mitchell Bramsway wasn’t having it. A harmless foul pop-out and a called third strike ended the threat and sent the Knights into celebration mode.

Jeremy Coccia earned his first collegiate win with a scoreless inning of relief, while Bramsway secured his third save of the year with a scoreless ninth.

Elsewhere, Widener took a page out of Arcadia’s playbook, using a seven-run seventh inning to power past Eastern, 11-7, in Chester. Ryan Bauerle homered and drove in three, Braedyn Clinton added three RBIs of his own, and Kevin Bukowski and Brendan Raven each chipped in with three-hit performances as the Pride stormed back for the win.
