Kyle Schwarber
Kyle Schwarber turned Dodger Stadium into his personal launching pad, smashing three homers and matching his career high with seven RBIs as the Phillies stormed back to defeat the Dodgers 9-4 on Wednesday night.

The victory sealed a series win for the NL East-leading Phillies, while the Dodgers dropped two of three, narrowing their NL West lead to just three games over the surging Arizona Diamondbacks—their smallest margin since late April.

In a pivotal sixth inning, Schwarber's three-run homer punctuated a five-run rally that saw the Phillies erase a deficit and seize control. The chaos began when Alec Bohm doubled to left, and Brandon Marsh hit a grounder to third that ignited a bizarre sequence. Third baseman Kiké Hernández fielded the bunt and fired to Miguel Rojas, but Bohm slid safely as third base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt called interference on Rojas, charging him with an error.

An irate Rojas protested vehemently, prompting Dodgers manager Dave Roberts to storm out of the dugout. Wendelstedt, unfazed, raised his hands to signal Roberts to halt his approach. When Roberts continued his tirade, Wendelstedt turned his back and ejected him—Roberts’ 12th career ejection and first of the season.

With the bases loaded, J.T. Realmuto’s RBI groundout tied the game at 4-4. Joe Kelly, unraveling, walked Nick Castellanos and Johan Rojas before a wild pitch allowed Marsh to score, putting the Phillies ahead 5-4. Then Schwarber delivered the crushing blow: a towering 426-foot shot to right-center that pushed the lead to 8-4.

Schwarber wasn’t finished, launching his 27th homer to lead off the ninth against Michael Grove. Earlier, his two-run double in the fifth had cut the Dodgers' lead to 4-3, chasing rookie Gavin Stone after a shaky outing. Stone also surrendered a leadoff homer to Schwarber on an 0-2 pitch, setting the tone for the evening.

The Phillies’ bullpen was lights out after Gavin Lux's third-inning single, retiring 12 consecutive batters. Dodgers reliever Alex Vesia (2-4) took the loss.

The Phillies now head to Arizona for a weekend series with the Diamondbacks.
