Council Rock Newtown
Baseball fans in Philadelphia have a reason to tune in on Thursday as Council Rock Newtown Little League takes the national stage. Representing the Mid-Atlantic, CR Newtown squares off against Boerne Little League (Texas) of the Southwest in the 2024 Little League World Series in Williamsport. First pitch is at 7 p.m.

The tournament opened Wednesday, wrapping up with the championship game on August 25 at 3 p.m. After the kids play Sunday, an MLB matchup between the Yankees and Tigers will unfold at nearby Bowman Field.

CR Newtown punched its ticket to Williamsport with a decisive win over Washington, D.C. in the Mid-Atlantic final, extending their winning streak to 19. This marks their second trip to Williamsport in 19 years.

Led by manager Brad Hamilton and coaches Doug Peiffer and Kyle Neeld, CR Newtown dominated the Pennsylvania District 30 Tournament, claimed the District 6 title, and took the state crown.

It’s the second year in a row a local team has reached Williamsport, following Media’s run last season.

The Blue Dawgs enter the Little League World Series riding an 18-game winning streak.

Where to watch?
The game airs at 7 p.m. on ESPN.

If CR Newtown secures a win against Boerne, they’ll face the winner of South Hill (Washington State) vs. Lake Mary (Florida) in the next round on Monday night. A loss would move the club to the elimination bracket.
