A two-run single in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted the ASSA Futures Collegiate Team to a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Philly Mummers on Monday in Radnor.
The Mummers had regained the lead in the top half of the inning, scoring three times to turn a 4-2 deficit into a 5-4 advantage. ASSA responded in its final opportunity, placing two runners aboard before the game-winning hit brought home the tying and winning runs.
Philadelphia had controlled the early innings.
Preston Martin opened the scoring with an RBI single in the first, and Jude Hamilton tripled home another run in the second to give the Mummers a 2-0 lead.
ASSA erased the deficit during a four-run fifth inning. Paul Daly drove in a run on a fielder’s choice, Nick Prince added a run-scoring groundout and Jake Wilson delivered an RBI single down the left-field line as the Futures Collegiate Team moved ahead, 4-2.
The Mummers did not go quietly.
They created traffic throughout the game by drawing nine walks and stealing four bases. Their patience eventually produced a seventh-inning rally that briefly put them in position to secure the victory.
Martin finished with multiple hits and an RBI, while Hamilton supplied the Mummers’ biggest extra-base hit. Tyler Muzi also recorded multiple hits.
Alex Bartlett Jr. led ASSA with three hits. Wilson and Cooper Nelson added multi-hit performances as the Futures Collegiate Team generated consistent pressure throughout the contest.
The Mummers had overcome ASSA’s fifth-inning surge and were three outs away from completing their own comeback. Instead, ASSA delivered the final answer and turned a one-run deficit into a dramatic victory.
The Mummers return to action Tuesday against Philly Bandits Black College. ASSA is scheduled to host Philly Bandits Red College on Wednesday.

Philly Bandits Black College used a four-run fourth inning to pull away from Rake Baseball Collegiate in a 7-4 victory Monday in Bensalem.
The Bandits scored three times in the first on RBI hits by Matt Evans and Gavin Grasso, plus a sacrifice fly from Will Henderson. Rake tied the game in the fourth, capitalizing on an error and a run-scoring groundout by Jake Madden.
Philadelphia answered. Frankie Decembrino singled home a run, Evans added an RBI groundout and Henderson delivered a two-run single to give the Bandits a 7-3 lead.
Shane Mills earned the win after allowing three hits and three runs, only one earned, over four innings. He struck out five and walked one.
Henderson had three RBIs, while Decembrino, Evans and Lucas Albert collected two hits apiece.
