ASSA Futures Collegiate Team scored early and received strong pitching Thursday in a 5-1 victory over the Fightin Quakers in Doylestown.
Colt Manning drove in the game’s first run in the top of the first inning, giving ASSA an advantage it never relinquished. Connor Hill then controlled the Quakers’ lineup, striking out seven while limiting the opposition to one run. Tyler Galczyk also appeared in relief as ASSA protected its lead.
Austin Allen started for the Fightin Quakers and allowed one run on two hits over two innings. The left-hander struck out three without issuing a walk. Braden Kelly worked 1⅓ innings, surrendering two runs, one earned, on three hits while striking out three and walking two.
ASSA produced a balanced offensive effort, finishing with at least nine hits and receiving contributions throughout the order. Manning collected two hits and an RBI, while Jake Wilson, Brandon Dunbar and Brady Hounsell also recorded multi-hit performances.
Braeden Black led the Fightin Quakers offensively, going 2-for-2 and driving in the team’s only run. He accounted for two of the club’s six hits.

Philly Mummers used a six-run sixth inning to rally past Philly Bandits Red College, 13-8, Thursday in Warminster. The Mummers struck first when Jude Hamilton opened the scoring with a solo home run to right field. A two-run single, a run-scoring fielder’s choice by Ryan Lamberth and a Bandits error helped produce a five-run first inning.
Lamberth added another run with a groundout in the third, extending the Mummers’ lead to 6-2.
The Bandits answered with six runs over the next two innings. Ryan Price tripled, JP Diguiseppe singled and Cubby Bailey added a run-scoring groundout as the Bandits tied the game in the fourth. Aidan Zakarewicz then delivered an RBI single in the fifth to give the Bandits an 8-7 advantage.
The lead did not last.
The Mummers collected four hits and scored six runs in the top of the sixth, turning a one-run deficit into a 13-8 advantage. A two-run double provided the biggest blow of the inning.
