The Phillies are waiting, rested, and ticketed for the NLDS. The only question is who’s walking into South Philly next weekend: the star-soaked Dodgers or the upstart Reds. One familiar October foil. One throwback underdog. Either way, the road to the NLCS runs through Citizens Bank Park.

The Dodgers: Star Power and October Pressure
The Dodgers have owned the NL West for most of the last decade-plus and still roll out a galaxy of names. Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, and Freddie Freeman headline a lineup that can suffocate mistakes. Their rotation features front-line talent and October experience.

Philly fans know this matchup’s history: the last Phillies–Dodgers postseason meeting was the 2009 NLCS, and the Phillies took it 4–1. Since then, they’ve managed to miss each other in October — until possibly now.

The question with L.A. isn’t whether the stars are there. It’s whether the pieces behind them hold up in South Philly’s noise. If they do, they’re a load. If they don’t, the Bank will make sure everybody hears it.

The Reds: Arms, Edge, and House-Money Vibes
The Cincinnati Reds surged late and kicked the door into October. They’re young, athletic, and fueled by a rotation that can stack quality innings. The headliners are hard to miss: Elly De La Cruz is must-see electricity, and Hunter Greene, Nick Lodolo, and Andrew Abbott give Cincy real swing-and-miss.

Philly’s last October memory of the Reds needs no introduction: the 2010 NLDS sweep, punctuated by Roy Halladay’s no-hitter in Game 1. That’s the bar for what a Citizens Bank Park series can feel like when the Phillies get the first punch in.

The Reds can run, defend, and ride their arms. But the lights in October at the Bank hit different. That’s a test for any young club.

Phillies View
Matchup truth: the Dodgers bring pedigree and pressure; the Reds bring youth and pace. The Phillies bring Citizens Bank Park in October — and lately, that’s been its own superpower.

Whoever survives to face them, they’re stepping into baseball’s loudest zip code.

We'll have a full preview of the Reds Dodgers series on Tuesday.
