Widener Baseball
You like comebacks? You like chaos? You like baseball games where one team spends most of the afternoon getting steamrolled, then suddenly flips a switch and turns into the ‘27 Yankees? Well, have we got a game for you.

On Tuesday at Kannerstein Field, Widener trailed Haverford by nine runs heading into the sixth. Nine! Then the Pride went full throttle, scoring 10 unanswered to steal a wild 13-12 victory. The final blow? A clutch two-run single to right in the eighth by Jon Aman, because of course it was.

And speaking of theatrics, let’s talk Kevin Bukowski. Three homers. Five RBIs. And just for good measure, he basically carried the offense on his back like a guy determined to win a video game on cheat mode. Jack Balcer chipped in with two hits, including his 14th double of the season. Meanwhile, Dylan Neves (two scoreless innings) picked up the win, and Caleb Horner slammed the door with his first save, tossing two more shutout frames.

But because this game wasn’t bizarre enough, Haverford still had one last shot in the ninth. Jackson Sgro ripped a leadoff double and, after a throwing error, pinch-runner Mauro DeCillis was sitting on third with one out. Tension. Drama. Infield drawn in. Harry Genth chopped a grounder to third, and Chris McKenna made the heads-up play to fire home. Catcher Tyler Harper applied the tag, erasing the tying run at the plate. One batter later, a routine fly to center ended it. Ballgame.

So, the final tally: Widener wins. Haverford loses. The Pride are now 13-8. The Fords fall to 11-5. And for everyone who witnessed this madness? Well, they won, too.
