Aidan Miller
The Phillies’ trio of top prospects—shortstop Aidan Miller, right-hander Andrew Painter, and outfielder Justin Crawford—will be on full display at major league spring training this February. Announced on Tuesday, the 23 non-roster invitees include the organization’s brightest young talents, as ranked by MLB Pipeline.

For Miller and Crawford, this marks their first invitations to big league camp. Painter, meanwhile, returns after his initial invite in 2023.

Miller, 20, impressed in 2024 across three minor league levels, slashing .261/.366/.446 with 28 doubles and 11 home runs in 102 games. His performance earned him a September promotion to Double-A Reading, where he capped off his season.

Crawford, who just turned 21, had a breakout year, earning the Paul Owens Award as the Phillies’ Minor League Player of the Year. Splitting time between High-A Jersey Shore and Double-A Reading, he posted a stellar .313 batting average, an .805 OPS, and swiped 42 bases in 110 games. Crawford recently shined on the international stage as the starting center fielder for Team USA during their bronze medal run at the WBSC Premier12 tournament.

Painter, 21, made his long-awaited return to competitive action in the 2024 Arizona Fall League after missing nearly two seasons due to elbow surgery. Though fully healthy, the Phillies have crafted a cautious approach for their top pitching prospect, keeping him out of Grapefruit League games to conserve his innings for a midseason major league debut.

Joining the top three prospects is outfielder Gabriel Rincones Jr., ranked as the Phillies’ No. 10 prospect by MLB Pipeline. Rincones, 23, showcased his power with a .487 slugging percentage at Double-A Reading before finishing the year with a strong Arizona Fall League showing.

Notable veteran invitees include catcher Paul McIntosh, acquired from Miami in December, and right-hander Griff McGarry, who is in big league camp for the third consecutive year. McGarry, 25, pitched in 29 games for Triple-A Lehigh Valley last season, posting a 4.70 ERA in a relief role.

Other invitees include pitchers Nabil Crismatt, Joel Kuhnel, and Nick Vespi; catchers Caleb Ricketts and Josh Breaux; infielders Rafael Lantigua and Otto Kemp; and utility player Matt Kroon.

As anticipation builds for spring training, all eyes will be on Miller, Painter, and Crawford, a trio poised to shape the Phillies’ future and potentially contribute to the big league roster in the near term.
