Brandon Marsh
Brandon Marsh's timely pinch-hit sacrifice fly in the eighth inning proved decisive, lifting the Phillies to a 3-2 victory over the Braves on Wednesday night at Citizens Bank Park. The win extended the Phillies' lead in the National League East to seven games, with just five head-to-head matchups remaining in the regular season.

Weston Wilson played a pivotal role, going 2-for-3 and scoring the go-ahead run in the eighth after leading off with a double. Kyle Schwarber and Trea Turner each contributed with RBIs, helping the Phillies rally from a two-run deficit.

Aaron Nola delivered a solid start, going 5 1/3 innings and allowing two runs on eight hits with two walks. He struck out five but left with the Phillies trailing. Matt Strahm (5-2) pitched a scoreless seventh to earn the win, and Carlos Estévez secured his 22nd save by stranding runners on second and third in the ninth.

The game featured a bit of drama when Orlando Arcia, who homered in the second inning, appeared to exchange a look with Bryce Harper while rounding first base—perhaps a nod to their heated exchange in the 2023 NLDS. Harper, however, downplayed the moment, saying he didn’t notice Arcia.

The Phillies broke through in the sixth inning, tying the game after Max Fried had faced the minimum 15 batters through five innings. Edmundo Sosa sparked the rally with a leadoff single, followed by a Johan Rojas double over Jarred Kelenic's head in left field. Schwarber grounded out to shortstop, driving in the first run, and Turner followed with a sacrifice fly to bring home Rojas.

In the series finale on Thursday, the Phillies will send Cristopher Sánchez (9-8, 3.46 ERA) to the mound, while the Braves counter with rookie right-hander Spencer Schwellenbach (4-6, 4.04 ERA).
