Immaculata put up a historic performance on Wednesday, delivering a resounding 34-11 victory over Cabrini in the opening round of the Atlantic East Conference Tournament.

The 34 runs scored marked a new pinnacle for the program, eclipsing the previous record of 29 set back in 2021.

At the forefront of this offensive onslaught was Joey Wright, who showcased an extraordinary performance, going 6-for-7 at the plate with six runs scored, including a double, three homers, and eight RBIs.

Wright's remarkable feat tied the program record for homers in a single game, a mark he now shares with Richard Fontanillas, achieved on May 3, 2019. Not content with just rewriting history once, Wright's six hits in the game matched his own previous program record set against Neumann on April 11, 2023. Moreover, he seized the opportunity to surpass Josh Crowding's season hits record, now boasting an impressive 65 hits for the season.

Stephen DiBattista notched the win on the mound, elevating his season record to 9-3 after five innings of work, conceding seven hits and four earned runs.

Contributing to the offensive spectacle, Nick Turnage and Steven Theisen both delivered standout performances, with Turnage going 3-for-5 with three runs scored and five RBIs, while Theisen mirrored his efforts, also going 3-for-5 with three runs scored, including a grand slam home run.

Despite a 3-3 deadlock heading into the fourth inning, Immaculata surged ahead with a four-run rally and maintained their momentum throughout the game, amassing an impressive 31 hits in total.

On the opposing side, Dom Marotta suffered the loss for Cabrini, enduring a tough outing, conceding 15 runs on ten hits over 3 2/3 innings. Blake Weinstein didn't find much reprieve in relief, allowing 11 runs on eight hits in three innings of work.

The pitching woes for Cabrini were further compounded by a combined effort from five hurlers, collectively tossing 235 pitches in the contest.

Looking ahead, Immaculata is set to square off against Marymount at 12:30 on Friday, vying for a spot in Saturday's Championship Round. Meanwhile, Cabrini will face Gwynedd Mercy in an elimination clash on Friday at 9 a.m., with the victor earning the chance to challenge the loser between Immaculata and Marymount later in the day.

The Atlantic East Championship Tournament now transitions to Keving Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium in Winchester, VA.
