Colin Yablonski delivered five scoreless innings on the mound, while Ryan Weingartner's home run and two RBIs propelled Saint Joseph's to a 4-3 triumph over Fairfield at Smithson Field on Monday.
Weingartner's crucial two-run homer came in the eighth inning, providing additional support to Luke Zimmerman's earlier two-run single in the opening frame.
The homer was Weingartner's fifth of the year.
The blast proved to be especially important as Fairfield mounted a comeback in the final frame, pushing across three runs to cut the deficit to one before Sam Davies was able to escape a bases loaded jam to notch the save.
The teams will conclude their brief two-game series at Smithson Field on Tuesday.
