Arcadia took care of business this weekend, advancing to the MAC Freedom Championship after a semifinal sweep of Stevens at Skip Wilson Field in Ambler.
The Knights will now host Misericordia in a best-of-three series beginning Friday for the title. Arcadia swept the lone regular season series between the two clubs earlier this month, securing three wins. The winner receives an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Alex Madera has again proven he's one of the top hitters in the country. The senior infielder leads the Knights in nearly every offensive category, including average (.463), OPS (1.025), slugging percentage (.638), and stolen bases (16).
Senior right-hander Carson Denham tossed a complete-game gem on Friday in Game 1 against Stevens. He surrendered two runs (one earned) and scattered five hits. He walked two and whiffed nine. The Cape May native has become an ace for the Knights and figures to start the series opener. He's carrying a 2.64 ERA over 64 innings, including 11 starts.
