Hughes of Immaculata
Immaculata earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regional Tournament after capturing their second consecutive Atlantic East Conference title defeating Cabrini 6-0 last Saturday. 
 
The Mighty Macs (29-11) will play Christopher Newport on Friday, May 19th at 2:30 PM at Kevin Anderson Field at Bridgeforth Stadium in Winchester, VA. This will be the Macs second meeting of the season with Christopher Newport, having defeated the Captains 12-6 on March 5th. 
 
The other teams in the regional are host Shenandoah and TCNJ. 
 
Senior catcher Josh Crowding led the Macs at the plate throughout the year, hitting .420 with five homers and 53 RBIs. 
 
Junior hurler Jason Hughes has pieced together one of the best statistical seasons in the nation at the Division III level, posting a 1.32 ERA and a 0.97 WHIP over 68 innings. He's also limited opponents to a .185 batting average. 
 
As a pitching staff, Immaculata enters the NCAA Tourney with a 3.06 team ERA - the third best mark in the nation. 
 
About Christopher Newport (31-9) 
An at-large pick for the fifth time in program history, the No. 9 Captains were one of two Pool B selections in the 60-team tournament. CNU will be making the program's 11th NCAA Tournament appearance all-time, with all coming under the direction of head coach John Harvell since 2001. 
 
Leaning on a sound defense and a solid pitching staff, the Captains are ranked in the top-ten in both national polls. CNU ranks 30th in the nation in fielding percentage and seventh nationally in earned-run average. The pitching staff, anchored by C2C Pitcher of the Year Dylan Weber, ranks third in the country in strikeouts per nine innings. 
 
About TCNJ (22-22) 
The TCNJ baseball team capped off their Cinderella run on top, defeating Kean in the 'winner take all' game two of the NJAC Tournament on Monday night by a score of 12-9. It's the first championship for the Lions since 2019. 
 
The Macs defeated TCNJ on April 4, winning 20-7. 
 
Sophomore hurler Jackson Malouf leads the club on the mound, posting a 1.84 ERA over ten starts. Junior Ryan Goodall is the power threat in the middle of the order, crushing a team-leading ten homers with 46 RBIs. 
 
About Shenandoah (38-7) 
The Hornets fell to Lynchburg in the ODAC Tournament Championship. The club is one of the best in the nation and boosts a team batting average of .331, led by senior outfielder Gavin Horning and his .429 batting average. Horning also has an OPS of 1.251, is tied for the team lead with seven dingers, and leads the club with 55 RBIs. 
 
Senior righthander Jacob Bell leads the pitching staff, posting a 1.72 ERA over 78 2/3 innings. Senior righty Jacob Faivre is another outstanding arm, limiting opponents to a .214 batting average over 71 2/3 innings.
