Rotondo streak continues
Trailing by a run entering the eighth inning, Villanova erupted to push four runs across to beat Richmond on Friday afternoon, 7-4. in the opening contest of a three-game set at Pitt Field in Richmond, Va. 

The victory snapped a five-game winless streak for the Wildcats. 

John Whooley delivered the highlight of the frame with an RBI-double to left field that pushed Joey Castellanos across the plate with the tying run. Three wild pitches later in the inning allowed the Wildcats to take the lead and add insurance. 

Chris Rotondo extended his hitting streak to 17 consecutive games with a 2-for-3 performance at the plate. 

Danny Wilkinson earned the victory, tossing 2 2/3 scoreless innings while surrendering just two hits. He whiffed four. 

The Wildcats and Spiders resume their weekend series on Saturday with a 1 p.m. first pitch. Tyler Arella will take the bump for Villanova.
