Philadelphia College Baseball Preview
Penn (12-5) remains one of the hottest teams in the Philadelphia region and enters the weekend riding a seven-game winning streak. The Quakers open conference play on Saturday with a doubleheader on the road at Columbia. Craig Larsen has hit safely in nine consecutive games, while Wyatt Henseler is hitting .467 with a 1.428 OPS.

Saint Joseph's (11-7) beat Bucknell on Tuesday after dropping three-of-four to Cincinnati last weekend. The Hawks travel to Seton Hall on Saturday to open a three-game set. Andrew Cossetti enters the weekend with a region-leading ten homers and 33 RBIs. As a team, the Hawks have outhomered opponents 30 to 14.

Villanova (3-13-1) has struggled as of late and is winless in their last five contests. The Wildcats battled Tulane to a tie on Sunday in a game halted because of a travel curfew. The club is on the road this weekend against Richmond. Chris Rotondo is riding a 16-game hitting streak, marking the longest streak by a Wildcat since Jeremy Hunt's 19 game streak in 2006.

No. 23 West Chester (15-3) knocked off Jefferson on Thursday in the semifinals of the Bill Giles Classic and will play in the title game at Citizens Bank Park on April 19. The Rams are off this weekend and return to action on Tuesday with a non-conference contest at Wilmington. Mike Ferrara leads the offense with 30 RBIs, while Braeden Fausnaught has a 1.97 ERA over six starts.

Jefferson (8-9) resumes conference play on Friday with a doubleheader at Dominican. The Rams have lost two straight. Jem Sisco has led the club on the mound, posting a 2.18 ERA over four starts.

USciences (6-13) fell to Chestnut Hill earlier this week in their opening of conference play. The Devils host Nyack for a doubleheader on Saturday.

Chestnut Hill (9-10) has won two straight and will play a pair of doubleheaders this weekend, traveling to Bloomfield on Saturday before hosting USciences on Sunday. Andrew Dietz remains one of the hottest hitters in college baseball, hitting .443 on the year with five homers and 24 RBIs.

Arcadia (14-3) visits Wilkes on Friday before hosting them for a doubleheader at Skip Wilson Field on Saturday. The Knights have won four straight and are one of the hottest teams in the region. Alex Madera is hitting .422 to lead the offense.

Cabrini (14-3) has won eight straight and will face Neumann this weekend. The Cavs cruised to a 17-2 mid-week win over Rosemont. A win on Friday will tie the longest winning streak in program history. Cabrini's pitching staff has pitched to a 4.05 combined ERA.

Immaculata (8-4) has won three straight games and will host a doubleheader on Saturday against Gwynedd Mercy.

Delaware Valley (6-6) will host Stevens on Friday and then travel to Hoboken for a doubleheader on Sunday. The Aggies are hitting .328 as a team, with Jonathan Drews pacing the club with a .415 average and a 1.040 OPS.

Penn State Abington (9-7) snapped a three-game skid with a win on Wednesday over York College. The Nittany Lions face St. Mary's on Friday with a doubleheader on Saturday. Ryan McCarty is hitting .444 with nine dingers and 20 RBIs.

Eastern (6-11) walloped on Valley Forge earlier in the week, cruising to a 17-0 win. The Eagles face Muhlenberg on Friday before traveling to Kean for a doubleheader on Saturday. Matt McHale is hitting .408, while Sean Cottrell has 23 RBIs to pace the club.

Haverford (6-9) heads to TCNJ on Friday and then to Alvernia for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Fords have dropped four straight.

Widener (7-9) will travel across the bridge to play Rutgers-Camden on Friday before heading Washington College for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Pride has three starters hitting over .400 (Matt Samson, Antony Boccio, and Justin Costanzo).

Valley Forge (3-9) hosts Clarks Summit in a doubleheader on Saturday. The Patriots are winless at home, and pitching is an issue with a team ERA of 15.75.

Rosemont (3-10) has dropped three straight and will host Clarks Summit in a doubleheader on Sunday. Like Valley Forge, pitching is an area of concern with a 12.21 team ERA.

Ursinus (7-10) is off this weekend. The Bears return to action on Monday with a contest against Rutgers-Camden.

Swarthmore (6-11) hosts Ramapo for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Garnet have dropped four of their last five contests.

Cairn (7-6) hosts St. Elizabeth for a doubleheader on Saturday. The Highlanders have dropped three straight while being outscored 34-8.

Gwynedd Mercy (7-9) will face Immaculata in a three-game set this weekend with a doubleheader on Saturday. Brett Swire leads the Griffins at the plate with a .436 average, while T.J. Brasier has four homers and 26 RBIs.

Neumann (4-6) opens a three-game set with Cabrini on Friday. The Knights have dropped two straight and haven't beaten the Cavs since May of 2018.
