Chestnut Hill baseball earns preseason votes
Chestnut Hill received votes in the National College Baseball Writers Association Preseason Division II East Region Poll.

The Griffins finished last season ranked 9th in the NCBWA poll. The club finished 4-5 last year before the COVID-19 pandemic halted the college baseball season.

Shortstop Ameir Uzzell, right-hander Billy Bethel, and first baseman Andrew Dietz return this season as captains.

Uzzell led the Griffins in several offensive categories last season, hitting .457 over nine games while scoring 12 runs and swiping eight bases. Bethel struggled in two starts last year but was a workhorse in 2019 for the club, leading the team in starts (11), innings pitched (75), and strikeouts (54) while posting a 4.44 ERA. Dietz struggled a bit too in the COVID-shortened campaign but shined in 2019, hitting .318 with a pair of homers, 34 RBIs, and 16 doubles. He also played stellar defense, posting a .993 fielding percentage.

The Griffins open the 2021 season on March 5 with a doubleheader at East Stroudsburg.
