Gwynedd Mercy Griffins name new head coach
Pete O'Hara has been named head coach at Gwynedd Mercy, the program announced on Thursday. He comes to the Griffins after having spent the past four seasons working at Saint Joseph's as an assistant coach, focusing primarily on outfielders and baserunning.

"I am incredibly excited for this opportunity to join the Gwynedd Mercy University community," O'Hara said in a statement. "I felt as though this was the absolute right fit for myself and my family, and I would be able to use my skills and background to contribute to the Athletic Department and the University right away."

O'Hara replaces former head coach Paul Murphy who moved to Immaculata over the summer to become Director of Athletics and Recreation. Murphy founded the baseball program at Gwynedd Mercy and was the Griffins lone head coach since 1999, leading the club to five conference titles and five NCAA Tournament appearances.

Gwynedd Mercy was 3-8 before COVID derailed the 2020 season. The club was 21-14-2 in 2019 and won the Atlantic East Conference title, beating Cabrini in a best-of-three series.

O'Hara played at Delaware Valley and was a three-time All-Conference honoree.

"I have the utmost respect, admiration, and gratitude for current SJU Head Coach Fritz Hamburg and assistant coach Ryan Wheeler for all that they have done for me in my time at SJU," O'Hara said. "I cannot thank the current and former SJU Players enough, as well as the former staff and players at Delaware Valley University, for their effort and support in my time at each respective program."
