The deal is pending physicals and has not been confirmed by either club.
Galvis, 28, signed with the Phillies as an amateur free agent in July of 2006 and spent the past six seasons playing at the big league level. A two-time Gold Glove award finalist, he's long been recognized as one of the best defending shortstops in the game. Offensively, he hit .248 over the past two seasons with a combined 32 homers and 128 RBIs.
De Los Santos is an intriguing arm with high potential. The 21-year-old went 10-6 last season at Double-A and pieced together a 3.78 ERA over 24 starts. He struck out 138 batters and walked 48 in 150 innings. His best pitch is his fastball that sits comfortably in the low 90s with movement. He also throws a curve and can hit his spots location-wise. MLBPipeline ranked him as the Padres' 13th best prospect.
With Galvis gone J.P. Crawford will take over the daily duties for the Phillies at shortstop.
